#Physics based Particles?
5 messages in this thread
I have a great need for a physics based particle system like those used in
Wavefront and GIG3DGO. I have used Vapor and Flame with great success, but
these particle systems have no parameters for collision detection. What I
would like to see would be a combination of say Vapor and the Dynamic Motion
Module. Are there any heavy duty Plug-in Developers toying with the Idea? If
so, I would looove to Beta 🙂
Roy.
Hi Roy,
This is the way I always imagine having particles behave. Now that we have two
competing physics packages, maybe one of them will add particle features.
Although, with flame and vapor -just a rudimentary level of collision detection
would work wonders!<G>

Paul,
We are putting the final touches on DMM which will include the ability to
generate an AXP script for particle animations. In the initial release, it will
be limited to generating sparks at the point of collision, but we are sharing
our spec with other developers like Digimation.

Brent,
>>AXP script for particle animations
Sounds very promising. If the material attributes of the sparks were changed,
could they represent small dirt/gravel particles scattered by a collision?

Paul,
I believe so. I will report back with more data.
