For some time now I have had a bad CSA board, and today I noticed something!
The board 'ran' at 14 MHz and the '020 and '8881 were both 12 MHz chips!
Something I noticed when the board ran, is that the chips tended to get
verywarm to the touch. I know one can run slow chips faster, but it generally
isn't wise!!! And my board did quit all of a sudden! I think CSA owes me some
new hardware and a apology!

In fact, one thing that occurs when you run a chip at a speed it wasn't
designed, or spec'ed for (faster speed that is)…is it get's too hot and
fries.

They do tend to get rather warm when run too fast. I've gotten away with
"pushing" chips many times, sometimes up near double the rated clock speeds,
but it's not a great idea. I also put heatsinks on them and made sure they got
plenty of air, but it's not the sort of thing I'd do on a commercial product.
They also tend to become very sensitive to power supply levels. I've seen parts
that won't work at 4.9 volts (within normal supply tolerances) that run fine
when the supply is tweaked back up to 5.0.
