#Replacement mice…

Andrew,
ok, I found the table you were looking at, so now our terms can match
<grin>. There is a schematic in the back of your A2000 owners manual, in
appendix F. I'm looking at pages F-4 and F-13. I agree with you that
something is decidely odd about pin 1, so I'd suspect U202 as the faulty
chip.
For the life of me, I can't see how the 8520's are involved at all, and
I'm almost blind tracing some of these signals around ;-).
Again, good luck on it.

Brian,
I suspect that we have different Amiga 2000 manuals. Mine is entitled
"Introduction to the Commodore Amiga 2000" Copyright 1987. The schematics
are on pages F-3 through F-12 (there is no F-14 here!) The drawings also
do NOT have any revision or date information on them ("see sheet 1" they
say, and sheet 1 doesn't have any info either!)
According to my schematics, it looks like (from page F-8) the mouse
connections (J11 and J12) head into U74 (a 74hct157), with connections also
to ground via 0.01p CAPs, and to 5v via 27K resistors (RES pack RN11).
After all that, the signals head (indirectly) to both PAULA and DENISE.
I think what I will do is take my 2000 to the dealer, and agree to buy the
8520 when he shows me that replacing it actually makes a difference! I
agree with you that it doesn't look like it should…
I'll let you know what happens…

I didn't realize you could use IBM bus mice on the Amiga…Does it require
a special cable, or just plug and go?

No you can't just plug it in you must change the plug configuration
Really?? How did you manage this feat? How about uploading a text "how I
did it" file? –Eet–
