I can't figue out if I should do something beside have your driver up and
running and print from Ppage. I don't get the fonts that I have used &they
are in CGFonts/PS. Ppage doesn't want to put the right fonts in the PS
file (I peeked) and their "download" program doesn't work. Is there a
secrete? The resume was beautiful, but then it used "Times" which always
gets into the PS files even when I want "Hiroshiga"!!!

If your using Postscript, you shouldn't be using the preferences printer
driver. You select print postscript and select PAR: for parallel (if that
is what your using) and print from there. PPage won't download postscript
fonts to a preferences printer driver printer.

You sound frustrated!
As you should have read by now, postscript printing with ProPage doesn't
use any printer drivers, since you are going directly to the printer via
PAR:, not PRT:.
I have never used the "download" program. I let ProPage download any
fonts that need to be downloaded when printing. (wish final copy II could
do this) It takes very little time to download a font.
Haven't played much with downloaded fonts, yet. Just a couple of the
recent Star Trek font uploads. It's hard to decide what fonts to download
since I don't know what they all look like.
ProPage 4.0 is supposed to run much better under 3.0 OS.
In the PostScript print requestor, try values of 90/45 for lines/inch and
angle. These values give much better results then the default settings.
Don't believe it is possible to change the default values – have to change
them every time you start a new project.

Well, it's getting better, as I said I can do envelopes now. There seems
to be a problem with either the PS fonts I have in Ppage or Ppage sending
the right info in it's PS prologue. I know I have them in my CGFonts/PS
dir & have used them with Post. I'm sure I'll get it together. Laser
printers have a life of their own! Thanks for your help.

I agree with Kelly, change you PS screen density to 80 or 90. The
download utility seems to work if you first send both the fonts and the
document to seperate files, and then send the files to the printer (fist
the PS font file and then the PPage PS file) via the copy command.
For what ever reason, I am finding some of the PS fonts converted with the
FontManger giving errors, when I reconvert using the CreateFont utility it
seems to work. (I use CreateFont since the original .afm .pfb files are
archived elsewhere.) I turn on the PS errors on, so now the HP 4 outputs
an error page when it gets something it does not like.

Density looks much better at 90 for my picture. Don't know what you mean
by "sending font" to a seperate file..how?
I redid Hiroshiga-book with CreatFont…nothing. Then I put the originale
.PBF file in ppage/ps and renamed it .psfonts, bingo…..IF I make a whole
file Hiroshiga-book, but the minute there is another font (usually
Hiro-bold), info shows Times, Hevetica, Hiroshiga-bold only and the bottom
(Hiro-book) is printed in Courier w/all overlapped letters. I'm hoping the
new Ppage will fix all this.

Make a PPage file with just a dummy template, set it for the lines and
angles you want, print nothing and save it. There are a variety of things
you can set this way.

I thought I tried something like that. Set the values in the PS Print
requester. But there are only two ways out of here – OK and CANCEL. OK
causes the values to stick and prints the page/file what ever, while
CANCEL sets everything back to the settings before calling Print PS.
Hopefully ProPage 4.0 will have some way to set the DEFAULT values for the
various requestors.
Or am I just missing something? If I print the dummy page to set the
values and save it, won't I still have to manually load the dummy page to
reset the values next session with ProPage?
