Can anyone tell me the pin out of the keyboard socket on the CDTV? I
believe I can use my Amiga 2000 keyboard with an adapter cable, got the pin
out of the 2000 but nothing in the CDTV manual, in fact there isn't even a
manual! I presume they are stil writing it.

The "Manual" is the Welcome Disc" and there already is an adapter from
Circuits and Software. We'll have it in next week.

Thanks Ben, don't think the manual on the welcome disk has a wiring
diagram in it, at least the A2000 manual does have! It seems Commodore are
scared of people knowing that the CDTV is actually a computer, aimed at a
different market.
I am over in the States at the end of the month but after a brief stop in
DC its mostly on the west coast, stopping in Kentucky on the way home I
think, might make it to your shop one day!
PC equipment has always been cheaper in U$A than UK but Amiga stuff is
sometimes the reverse, there is a big base of Amigas here and in Germany
which helps I guess.
You know the dumbest thing about that "manual". The instrustions for
putting the disk in the CDTV are on it! How the heck are they going to
see that on the manual if they can't load it first? Commodore screws up
again
They didn't screw up, the "Welcome disk" is already in the caddy so all you
have to do is follow the arrow to insert it.

At least the welcome disk was in the caddy ready to put straight in so not
too difficult I suppose. The only instructions were very basic, 50 pages
less than my video recorder at 2 pages!
My young daughter told me she had a problem loading Mammmals Encyclopedia
on my PC CD-ROM, that hasd a caddy the same as CDTV and she had stuck the
disk in withuot the caddy, took a little getting out again!

Sorry but it is meant as a consumer machine so the wiring diagrams died.
We're an authorized service center and they haven't even sent us the specs.
If you are in Las Vegas July28-Aug2, stop by Siggraph and look me up.
Otherwise, try me in LA. as a major cdtv title programmer, im
interested in overseas impressions.
Will be in Long Beach Aug 1-4 Jerry, where are you in LA? What sort of
titles do you create/publish? Apart from the welcome disk all I have for
the CDTV so far is Music Maker and Defender of the Crown game which came
with my machine, Lemmings and some sort of encyclopedia are supposed to be
coming direct from Commodore "sometime soon".
I have a NEC CDR-82 limked into my PC here which I use, my son is the CDTV
user!

I am a contract programmer with Xiphias, which means I am closely
associated with the two TimeTable of History disks, the SilverPalette
cookbook, the Amer. Heritage Dictionary, and the Grolier Encyclopedia.
(most of the "reference" disks now available)
I'm up in the Marina Del Rey area. Xiphias is nearby.
It doesnt look like i'll be in town when you come thru, sorry.
The time table disks are a lot of fun to browse through. They are about
6000 short stories on events in history. Lots of pictures and other
effects. The Dictionary is also fun (suprise!) due to the large number of
images and the quick linking from one definition to another. Grolier's also
has lots of hyperlinks.
I know many people who have gotten so involved in the timetables they
nearly a)forgot to eat b) lost their jobs.
