#Memory up/Performance dn
4 messages in this thread
The strangest thing!
We went from 16 to 32 MB, added a SummaSketch II+ to 3DSR2, and upgraded to
a Diamond Stealth vram, then performance went down.
Specifically, when the cursor is in the active window of the 3D editor, the
x,y update becomes very bogged down, and the cursor postion is jumpy as
opposed to smooth with high granularity.
We use the tablet driver with the Summa. 'tablet /1 /c4.
Then we took the the Summa out, and went back to mouse.
Then we juggled drivers. We got the bog down out (???) and the next day
powered up, and it was back (???) I swear!!
We use 386MAX, 486/33, DOS 5.0. And lots of tylenol. Can anyone solve this
mystery?

Steve, it sounds like the tablet driver might be causing the problem. Are
you using the built-in driver or a DGPADI driver?
Try uninstalling the driver again and working with the mouse for awhile. If
that works, you'll at least know it's something related to the tablet.

Thank you for your response. I have removed the tablet driver (tablet /1
/c4) and moved to an el cheapo mouse (imouse driver from intracom). I was
using a Mouse Systems optical (msmouse driver). Currently the gremlin
persists. I cannot return to the original mouse (msmouse optical) since
the reason for the change was it's failure. The R2 docs say something
about using the SUMMA ADI ala R1, but I looked at my old R1 \driver
directory and had no SUMMA ADI. Hmmm. Gail at Summa tells me that they
have an R2 driver in beta, and is mailing it to me. Also the drivers that
came with the pad were ver ….06 while current drivers are ver …11. So
she is sending new drivers as well. Basicly, I changed too many things at
one time….memory/vga card/summa…and now need to untangle what I have
done. Wish me luck, and thanks for the help.
Keeping everything in perspective, I'm sure I will correct this, and
working with 3DS R2 is shear ecstacy. BTW I love noise.sxp, it makes great
water!

Have you tried putting the Summa into MS mouse emulation mode and using it
with the 3DS internal mouse driver?
