[ continuation ] won't run on it, as will no other programs that render to the chipram bitplanes directly or with ownblitter(). But we are going to lose those kinds of programs the very day DIG of any kind hits 🙁 Another interesting thing to note is that all this stuff plugs into the A2000 and not the A3000! And if you look closely at what they are doing, they are pretty much only using the keyboard, floppy drives, mouse, and audio hardware in the stock Amiga. Makes me wonder why they don't just build their own full-blown high-end computer (they're pretty darn close now 🙂 OK, so I did some very rough figuring, to see what kind of bucks you'd have to layout to get this amazing system from scratch. I figure that you could get a 16MB 33MHz 040, EGS-110/24, 19" multisync monitor, and an empty A2000 for about $6500. Throw in a 1.2Gig hard disk and you are at $8K. Yes, this may seem expensive, but compare it to an indigo (which is is superior to in many ways) at double the price and it is cheap. Compare it to the high-end quadra and it buries it (I do believe the Quadra is quite fast in its own right, just not like this board 🙂 Can a 33MHz 486DDX PC even come close to its performance? Why is GVP so much better a company than CBM? 🙂 Why don't they have an A3000 version? 🙁 What are the specmarks for a 33MHz 030 with 40ns RAM with full 040 cache/burst/page/etc. support?
