#Landscape Post printing
6 messages in this thread
Hi Mike,
Is it possible to print landscape mode on a HP Desk Jet with Post 1.7? I
have tried, using -11, and it tells me "unknown option "1"! Docs say use
you can do it.

I haven't got the information to hand, so can't check immediately … but I
suspect that your problem might be that you're using -11 (i.e. two numbers)
when the option I use in PostLJ is -l1 (i.e. letter and number).
If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll actually put my mind into the
problem with more fervour.

Hi Mike,
I was just about to send you my first born or put you in my will (if I had
any thing to leave!) Indeed it is l1, the second misprint in the docs I
have! But after starting a landscape run the guru came to visit, and in red
it announced error 8000-0003 078021BC, what ever that means.
What___a___bitch!! Do I have to configure prefs or something simple like
that? I'm using a 3000, 2 meg chip ram, 8 meg fast ram, Dos 2.04, HP
DeskJet500.

Well, it seems it's a case of `out of the frying pan into the fire'!
The Guru is not something I can immediately help you with … I don't
normally run 2.04 with POST (as it doesn't give me enough memory to be of
much use) so can't identify the precise problem. I did believe that POST
picks up information from the Preferences printer setting, so it's just
possible that there's something not set quite right.
Can you tell me the exact start-up line, plus your printer configuration,
and I'll try to reproduce the problem.

Hi Mike,
You mention memory. I thought that might be the trouble since the calendar
has 35 boxes and a few tiny graphics, so I tried a small file. It didn't
crash, but then again all it did was turn out a blank page! Post said 'post
finished' and then sent out page. normally message doesn't come till page
is printed and out of printer. The calendar crashes just as the printer
starts to pull the paper in. My printer configuration is standard printer
prefs with a HP driver I DLed from the forum. I print in Post from the CLI,
cd to the Post dir, which has everything, including file to print, and type
'Postdj -l1 -s0 init.ps <file>'. My printer is connected to parallel port.
BTW, I got the book you recommemded. Haven't started studying it yet, been
busy. Between PostScript and my new modem I have my next year's work cut
out for me. And all my NY city friends thought I'd be bored in the
country!

It might be worth trying to run POST on its own (on the Amiga screen) and
see what the results are.
One possibility (for all that black) is that you have preferences set for a
negative image. I don't know if this would cause the problem, but it's
worth a look.
