This is something I got off my local BBS. Think of it what you want. Supposedly all of this sork World of Amiga Shows, this month. I'm pretty curious about the prices; whatever they are, they h the floor (by the way,both new chipsets are fully compatible with AGA, so those machines will certainly not become obsolete any time soon). We might expect A1200 prices about $300 and A4000 prices around $1200-1400 Pretty damn exciting sstuff. I figure that I'll waint until about sept.30 (the end of my summer break), then see what prices look like for the 5000 and Portable. I can't decide which I'd like better (probably the 5000, but I t know). I want to see IBM and Apple match this new shit. I'm going to write Commoore death threats if …. Well this is it.

I wonder how much longer it will take before the '5000' contains DEC's Alpha chipset, or the first production machine using holographic memory. Nah, that "DEC Alpha" thing is low-tech; that's how you know it's just a rumor. The _real_ 5000 has a cubic array of 68060's running as a parallel quasi-parasitic nonlinear processor hidden-assist network. Runs about 8,000 MIPS at 66 mhz and is completely compatible with all 68k family software. AmigaDOS 7 was specially designed to support this unusual system topology by detecting the CPU's and immediately melting down the blitter using "embarassment automation". I got this right from the horses mouth, by the way – just before he spat it on the floor of the stable. :^) –Ben …via AutoPilot

Hehe! And I suppose the new 5000 will contain the 9A chipset (too many A's to type) with built in holodeck virtual reality projection.
