#AAPro 24 bit soon

i think that a new file format will be do if we want to mantain the multilayer
support in multiple sessions. Temporal files are too "uncontrolled" 🙂
specially because they are temporal <g> and dissapear while you shutdown the
program. Think about this:
(First take a new 24bits fli format, of course 🙂
(Add a new GUI. Multiple floating boxes (one to DEFINE the working layer),
tools boxes… just like Painter, Photoshop, PhotoStyler, CorelDraw, etc…
Believe me, the user will not suffer with this change. The current interface is
right for me, but a new one as good as Painter's could be just GREAT).
1.Run Animator Pro 2.0 "The True Professional Animation Program" <g> 2.Choose
NEW and a dialog box with options will appear (just like in any graphics
programs. There you will have a "Number of Layers: XX" box, size box, name,
description, etc… 3.Then the program will name multiple fli files according
the number of layers (i.e.BUGGS.FL1, BUGGS.FL2, BUGGS.FL3, etc…) 4.And when
you are ready, GO to tape. You can join the different cuts with a an editor.
You can define the focus for each scene separately, change it with real timing,
adding effects, textures, etc all in a time script… You can ANYTHING there,
even you can make a small flc to see the animation before go to render. A
little bit like RIO, but more sophisticated. (hey guys, just let your
imagination fly! 🙂
Regarding tablets, I think it's a matter of sync between your eyes and your
hand. Of course it will never be as a real surface. However, I have not problem
with the Wacoms. I can get the same results that in paper, wood or a cloth, or
any other surface. well, it probably can be that sometimes I'm used to draw or
paint without looking the paint surface too much. I simply have the image in my
mind and my hand just flows to get the image :). It's the same with a tablet.
Just take a good one and think in the pointer as a corporal extension <g> Well,
it's a matter of tastes 🙂

Your description of the new GUI for AAP reflects my initial feeling about the
interface. I confess that in the past year or so I had more or less abandoned
hope that the AAP interface would EVER resemble every other graphics program on
the market (pardon the exaggeration). I do not see that a change of the
interface would represent a learning curve for almost anyone, since adhering to
what has become the industry standard can only HELP people to use, like and
exploit the program (and buy more of them). Your layering suggestions are also
very good. I was thinking of the least programming on the part of Autodesk to
get the effect. Your idea is much better, just would demand more of a
committment from the ADesk persons.

Regarding your views on tablets:
I saw a tablet at a NAB show a couple of years ago that was actually an HDTV
monitor and a pressure sensitive wireless pen built into a desktop. There was
also an auxillary HDTV monitor in the usual position. Let me tell you there is
a big difference in using my Summagraphics 12X12 and that futuristic
workstation.
More recently, for the computer world, I saw a mouse device that worked in
conjunction with your monitor as the tablet surface. It was available for ca.
$500 for their high res model. It was no where near as good as the HDTV setup
but probably the computer pen at 500 was a fraction of the cost.
