A couple of quick questions for the PAR crowd:
1) I have 2 IDE HD's in my system now, neither of which is suitable for use
with a PAR. Would I have to trash one of them to accommodate the PAR and its
HD? (I suspect yes, and I'm hoping no)
2) Can the compressed Targa images on the PAR HD be exported to an image
editing program (PShop or Painter) and then sent back to the PAR HD? Can a
sequence be brought into Premiere for "processing" and then sent back?
3) Any known plans to have a SCSI compatible PAR card?

1. The PAR uses it's own IDE interface to it's own dedicated IDE hard drive.
The drive must be an approved one for this application. To my knowledge the
approved drives are MIC 2210A and 2217A. As long as you have mounting space
you can add the third drive for the PAR.
2. You can port/convert the PAR *.ani files to targa files on the dos drive,
process, then send them back to the PAR for playback. fast and easy.
3. No plans to use SCSI for PAR that I know of. The technology seems to be
developing faster in the IDE arena anyway. Several pundits have predicted that
IDE will surpass SCSI for speed by the year's end. If you must have a SCSI for
your CDDR (Compressed digital disk recorder) then look at the MAX which
should soon be on the market.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to find a weakness in the PAR that would
justify my NOT shelling out $$ for it but I can't seem to find one. <If you

animations (although I do take my hobbies seriously). The MAX would be too much
$$ to slip past my wife unnoticed <g>. I'll be at Siggraph and if I can
actually see a PAR (and its output) in action, I suspect I'll come home & order
one.
