Anybody have any good suggestions as to how to give a 3D logo I have created a watery look? I have IPAS 1, 6, and 7, so I am not really looking for the wave animation, I think I can create that okay, but I need a good idea for the texture map. I guess I would like to see something similar to the water creature fro the Abyss (who wouldn't). Should I give it an animated map, so as the object wiggles the map moves independently? Thanks for any suggestions. -James Franssen

Check out Mirage. It has about the best wet look you'll get.

Hi James, << Should I give it an animated map, so as the object wiggles the map moves independently? >> Here's a small file uploaded by a forum regular that may help you with your experiments… File Info for CAUST.ZIP Section: Autodesk 3D Studio Contributor: 71532,1214 Size: 369197 Submitted: 6/11/94 Type: Binary Accesses: 129 Title: Water Caustics Sequence Keys: WATER CAUSTICS ROTOSCOPE A rotoscoped sequence of 45 320×240 highly compressed JPEG images of swimming pool water caustics – uploaded for David Mennenoh, or anyone whom can use them. Try creating a "ping-ponged" IFL sequence from them running from 1 to 45 to 1, etc..

If you want really good watery looking text use metaballs. Just design your text out in the 2d shaper and uses the shapes as paths for your metaballs and snapshot the metaballs over time. Once you have all your metaballs done uses keyscripting to give them some random constrained motion and you will get really awesome looking water/mecury looking gigglining waving looking text. I have done this and it looks really good. I can download a sample if any one is interested. Peter W.
