#Flat Bed Scanner?

I have a $1000 to $1500 budget for a high res flat bed scanner. Any input on
what would be a good buy would be appreciated.

Check out MIcrotek ScanMaker IIxe. Check for bundled sofrware. There is some
great deals for around $1000.00 to $1200.00
HP Scanjet IIcx. It's the best (by most magazines reviews, anyway).
You can get it for under $1000.
Yeah I'll go along with the scanjet IIcx nomination, I have one it's great.
1600 dpi, 400 dpi optical 24 bit colour and damned fast.
does this scanner use an I/O card or a SCSI interface, I too am
looking for a good scanner but one with SCSI.
It comes with an 8 bit SCSI which is almost a plug an play card,
however I use it with an adaptec 2842 VLB SCSI and yes, the scanner
is a fast scsi2 device.
The termination is carried out by a plug in module at the back (about
the size of a 25 pin gender bender) and the SCSI ID is set externally
on the scanner by the incredibly complex task ( NOT!) of turning a
small dial.
Seriously, it's a pretty much flawless package. But do read the
Getting Started manual be for you start. I didn't and ended up
buggering up the catch that locks the scanner for transport. Still
thats what sticky tape is for I guess.
Look at Howtek scanners. They're made in the USA and if you need any customer
support, or any fixes, they have 'em back to you in a flash!!! It's easy, and
not too expensive. They're scanners are fast hi-res color. I found mine thru
the GE Rentals company. (8 1/2 x 11 color scanner) for about $600, used.
We've had it for 2 years. . .Fabulous!
