There was some discussion about this movie earlier this year regarding the
use of 3D Studio in it. Does anyone know where and when 3DS was used in the
movie?

Sure. Tom Hudson and Jon Bell did all of the displays on the multitude of
monitors in the lab that contained the "expando-ray" equipment.

Why doesnt Tom hang out here on CIS? I don't recall ever seeing any input
from him here. He would be a very good resource.

Neither Tom nor Dan spend any time on the networks. The deal is that they
write the code and I communicate with the outside world. They don't have
to go to meetings at Autodesk either. That's how I keep them productive.
I'm sure you wouldn't want their productivity to take a hit due to spending
time hanging out on the forum, right? Any free time they've got right now
is best spent out-of-doors, getting in some high-quality analog time.

It's a computer-industry gossip and history book written by Bob Cringely,
the gossip columnist in Infoworld. It's one of the better books I've seen
in this genre, it delves adeptly into the psychology and methodology and
management styles of many industry figures…
Sounds interesting. Next time I'm in a bookstore I'll look around for it.

I read Cringley's book over vacation on the 4th of July. Pretty neat stuff.
I especially agree with his philosophy about the future, where all the PC
clone makers will go away because the entire computer will just be a couple
of chips and any chump can put plastic around them. Recommended reading for
anyone who likes this sort of stuff.
