I'm having some real problems with the mapping icon for mapping texture maps to objects in 3D studio. The problem is somewhat intermitent. The icon will not display and even if I continue as if it was displayed the mapping part does not occur when rendered. I'm using ver.2.0 and it does not warn me that there are mapping parameters missing from objects. When I try to align and then find a planar icon in a viewport it shows me nothing. Any help or ideas would be appreciated since this is not the first time it has happened. Jaan Lepp

The mapping icon is Xor'd to the screen (for update speed) and because of this, it can be difficult to see if it's completely edge-on to your current viewport. We've documented this in the Note on page 7-131 of the 3DSr2 reference manual. Are you using an ADI RCPADI display driver? If so, you'll also lose the green and yellow colors of the icon. If you _are_ using an RCPADI driver, you could try going back to the standard VGA interface if you want to get the icon color hiliting back. If you have assigned a texture map to an object, and you haven't assigned mapping coordinates, the renderer will always warn you that you haven't assigned them (except, of course, if you've applied a .sxp 3D texture, which doesn't need mapping coordinates). – G

Well, I'm using the standard vga setting for my main display, I'm absolutely sure that I am not looking at the map sideways. As I had mentioned before this is an intermittent problem. It seems to occur more typically on very large 3ds's or projects. Right now I am frustrated to the hilt since I'm on a heavy deadline. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S.
