Thank you Alan! I've got the number of the DPS people. You wouldn't happen to have the contact phone number for the Sanyo GVR-S950 Video Production Center (SVHS) would you? I would also be interested in looking at this unit if the quality is equal to or better than an AG-7750 of course.<g> James M. Murphy

Thanks Alan, I really would like to see the Sayno's GVR-S950 output next to the Panasonic AG 7750's. Scopin' it would be even more useful. Nothing Fancy just Color Bars, NTC-7 Composite, Horizontal Timing and Frequency Response. <g> Any Volenteers? BTW right after I posted to you I opened my mail and see the July issue of "Videography" Did a SIGGRAPH Toasts 20 years article and also see there is a Videographics "feature" article starting on page 38 about the GVR-S950. Dissapointingly though the article focuses on market strategy as opposed to any "real" useful information we might want. Wonder what kind of Editorial decision _that_ was? With apoligies to Erica L. Shames who signed the article I think the space could have been better served giving us some real information about the unit…Oh..lets say like a comparison between the GVR-S950 and the Panasonic AG-7750 which one would suppose it would be wanting to replace. If anyone can get in touch with Eric MacRae the Sanyo Product Manager ….thats providing he's at SIGGRAPH….I'd like him to answer THE Question directly: Are they aiming this directly at the AG-7750, if so….lets see some comparison specs…OK! I like this kind of pricing but I would like to know if its an AG-7750 Wanna-BE or a Glorified AG-1970. Make that AG-1960 too as I would have liked to see the AG-1970 keep the Color Level Slider that was on the AG-1960…of course while were wishing there's always dual linear audio track, dedicated timecode output, RS-232 and RS-422 control and sync inputs. Jeezz at least add a timecode output jack to the 1970! and lets see it _LIST_ at $1000.00 Ok! I don't want much….Jes' try N' ta do a little reality testing. <BG> Thanks again Alan Tell Em' I'll be glad to do a field test for them provided they come up with the Extra Tape. <g> I _Will_ be calling them tommorrow AM. Hmmm…interesting. I, too, would like to see more performance-oriented articles in the trades as oppposed to this "press sheet" style of reportng. Thats why I like pubs like 3rd Dimension and 3D Artist — at least you get some meat-and-potatoes-how-to in them. When I did traditional media, there were "step-by-step" mags that were real good. Computer people can get a lot from this kind of thing, I think. I know that I could, anyway… It would be a shame if the Sanyo unit — with such thoughtful design features — turned out to be seriously lacking in video quality or worksmanship. Time will tell… -Alan PS-That poem was very nice.

Good Morning Alan, I just wanted to ask you about the new issue of 3rd Dimension. Is it coming out soon? I only got that first issue you sent me a long time ago. Thanks Alex K.

James: The GVR-S950 is a true single frame animation deck. According to the product manager, it is not based on a consumer deck. Evan
