Dear Folks; I need some help creating an animation. I'm creating an under water scene of the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis. I have the geometry created and have the story board in mind. I need help creating the scene so that it look's as though it is under water. It would also be nice to have slivers of light shimmering thought out various places. Could you and or some else provide me with some tips? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Tim Kelley, Crazy Horse Designs

Pick up a copy of VIDEO TOASTER USER (January issue) it has an article about that very subject. Different platform I know, but might give you some Ideas. Good Luck, Gary

You should be able to get some great shimmering light effects using projector lights. I think there are some animated maps on the r3 CDROM that would work.

Timothy, Try creating an animated texture map that looks like a shimmering water surface. You could create this in Animator Pro or use 3DS to render a water surface from the Top viewport. Then project the resultant flic into the scene using a projector spotlight. (I'm assuming that you have R3). The mottled colors projected onto your geometry from the spotlight will look very much like being underwater. You can create the slivers of light by using cones, and rectangles into th escene with a transparent, self-illuminated material.

Use a projector light source with the "caustic.flc" image from the CD. "Caustics" is the word grpahics programmers use for the webby light rays you see on the bottom of a swimming pool on sunny days.
