Virtually all 3-D software systems permit 3-D modeling (digitization) using a camera captured background. I realize 3-D Studio does permit this (load pix as background, see background in shaper). If the background contains small objects or intricate type it is virtually impossible to see what you're drawing over as no provision has been made to be able to have any zoom capabilities on the background. As you are aware, if you in- advertently hit zoom, only the wire (shapes) get larger and you can never hope to return to your model exactly over the background. I know… disable scrolling…that's not what I'm talking about….Is there any hope that in Release 3.0 this glaring shortcoming is going to be fixed-or is there some trick I'm unaware of to magnify the drawing making digitization a more simple and exacting process? I'd really appreciate your inputs on this as it is a daily frustration. Thanks

We've done the best we can with digitized backgrounds. If you want more flexibility, I'm sure that Corel Draw or one of the other drawing programs that outputs .AI files can expand upon that. Note that if you hit zoom by mistake, you can always hit the other zoom icon to correct yourself.

What I usually do is creat two view ports that are the same. Yet, the one has my background showing, and the other I use for zooming and panning. It seems to work well, maybe not as easy as what you were looking for, but after working with other 3D modeling programs, I havent found any that do it any better, including the high end workstation packages.
