By the time your baby is old enough to use a computer, your current Amiga will
definitely be obsolete. I don't believe there will be any new significant
products for the Amiga outside of the video and multimedia areas.
I wouldn't worry about that far ahead anyway, I'd just get a new computer when
he or she is 4 or so. That will probably be PowerPC 620 or Intel P6 based.
As for your Amiga, do you need to make major investments in it? If not, just
enjoy it. That's what I'm doing. I realize that it will break at some point,
and then I'll just trash it.

I imagine by the time my daughter grows up (she's 7 now) she'll be amazed
that anyone had to actually type things to their computer, rather than
just talking to it. When I think of how much computers have changed in
just the last 15 years or so it's amazing. My first computer class was
done on a PFP11/70 using Teletype ASR33s, and we thought that was high
tech compared to the old card readers they still had attached to the
machine! (and I think that machine had maybe 1 or 2k of RAM)

Exactly! However, if your daughter's 7, she's probably already pretty aware of
computers, and will see the transitions from today forward.
