I have a Progressive Peripherals Frame Grabber from a few years back and was
trying to find out what the newest (last?) version of software was for it. I
have been unable to locate the company and wonder if hey are even around now.
If anyone has any information concerning the product, the company or any third
party commercial or PD software that supports the Frame Grabber I would be very
appreciatve. Thanks.

18 months (or so) ago Progressive Peripherals had a major fire. The company
didn't survive the experience (altho they nominally stayed in business long
enough to collect the insurance check). They are no longer.
I thought they were in the mac market now?

No, Steve Springer (former Pres of PP&S) is running around getting a few boards
made now and then, but it is not as PP&S, or as PPI (the name they changed to
after the fire). He really isn't in any market.

They released Framegrabber 2.0 software several years ago. I have a copy
which I do use and would happily share, but I'm not quite sure what the
legal implications are of copying software from a defunct corporation.
Anybody know about this?

you have to be very careful in this area. While the company may be
defunct, the copyright, or in some cases patent, can still be operative on
a piece of software. If they are operative, you are violating the law by
passing a copy to someone else. While the company itself may not be
around to detect and to prosecute such a violation, they can, at any
point, sell the rights to the software, and the new owner may be willing
to prosecute.
Distinctly not a healthy idea, financially, doing such in a public
arena, IMHO.

Thanks. You told me what I wanted to know. I have version 2.0, I wanted to
see if there was a version after that. There are a couple functions in 2.0
that don't work as they should (or as they do in 1.0), and I wondered if any
thing was fixed in a later version. Appreciate your answer.
