Add virtual clothes to it and you have the perfect solution for us
animators who work all the time. <g> I've almost thought of adopting
a kimono as my daily attire but they're too floppy. <BG>
Just out of curiousity are there any VR helmets out there that don't
give you a migraine after an hour or so? What about eye strain?
After an hour OR SO? What? You want to live in the thing? <bg>
Seriously, Division's latest HMD is quite good for a true stereo unit.
If extended time is what you seek, a mono unit such as the Liquid
Image does very well. Either way, proper fit and adjustment are
crucial. The technology changes so fast I could recommend something
today and it will be obsolete tomorrow. The smart folks don't invest
until it's absolutely necessary. You'd be amazed how much you can do
"offline"; modeling and basic interaction just from the desktop.
Eye strain is a problem as is re-orientation to the real world. If a user
is "in" for more than 15 minutes we always make sure that they have a
"decompression" time of at least a half an hour. There have been cases
(not with us) where folks use a VR system, then drive and have accidents.
There are many other factors as well. VR is opening up a whole new medical
industry!
It's a funny ol' world…
Cheers, John
John,

I can imagine. <G> Having been at this stuff a few years, first with video
and now with animation I'm concerned about preserving my eye sight, which
so far is still excellent. Natural ambient lighting seems to be the key,
which is rare in many production environments. I can't imagine what it
would be like constantly testing a VR game.

That it is! 🙂
John
Of course I've being trying to re-orient to the real world for a while now…

Aren't you also the one who took his computer to the chiropractor because
of a slipped disk? And before that the orthodontist because of overbyte?
Greg (you asked for it!) Pyros
Greg,

Wasn't me. But it sounds like you know some funny people. <g>
