Thanks Chuck, you're the best ! BTW, Micropace is saying that 3.1 Toaster with 3.5 Lightwave will be a free upgrade to 4.x Has that been confirmed, or are they misinformed ? Waiting on Escom? Don't wory, I'm sure everything will be settled in "two more weeks" 🙂 Mike Brennan, Sir Render A/V

<<BTW, Micropace is saying that 3.1 Toaster with 3.5 Lightwave will be a free upgrade to 4.x…>> Whoa! Who's Micropace? If that's true, let me in on it cause I have a 3.1/3.5 Toaster system in my 2000 that'll love the upgrade! I thought I had to spend $500 for the upgrade or get the Flyer to go to 4.x. Now up on the CIS Internet via AMosaic! Too bad it isn't with AP. Chris Shepard: 030/50 Toaster A2000 & MacIIfx via Emplant.

MicroPace is a wholesale distributor, the do not sell retail to end users. Don't forget, I'm trying to find out if this is the case, so it is not a fact. In past conversations with Chuck B, he stated that the upgrade policy was not yet determined. I want to find out if anything has changed. Mike Brennan, Sir Render A/V

The free upgrade is only being offered to purchasers of the 3.1/3.5 package, the current Toaster package, who purchased after Jan 1, 1995. All you have to do is register your Toaster with NewTek and it will be shipped when ready. Micropace announced that in connection with the dealers who have purchased Toaster after 1/1/95. Who's shipping the free upgrade: is it NewTek, Micropace? I want to make sure they got me on their list. Let me know what I need to do. Waiting for the MacroSystem's 060 accelerator to be released. You must be a registered owner with NewTek. Be sure you got your registration card in for you 3.1/3.5 purchase, and NewTek will ship you the upgrade BEFORE the rest of the world sees Toaster 4.1. If you aren't sure if you sent in the card, call customer service at NewTek and check your registration. Hank Videology, Inc Where you always get P.O.M.P. and Service under all circumstances

I registered my board with them, since it was used and had to buy the software from NewTek because it didn't come with the used Toaster board I bought. I will call them just to cover my a**. As of January 1st, 1995, all purchasers of Video Toaster 3.1/3.5 will receive a complete update, free, to Toaster 4.1/LightWave 4.0. Of course, the LightWave 4.0 will not be a standalone version. Here is the content of the fax we received 6/2/95. "New Video Toaster 4000s shipping after May 22, 1995 will contain the Video toaster System 3.5 software and manual until further notice. Those customers purchasing Video Toaster 4000s after January 1, 1995 are still entitled to a free upgrade to a Video Toaster System 4.0 once the 4.1 revision is complete. Make sure customers register their Toasters so their upgrade will be sent as soon as possible." Hank Videology, Inc Where you always get P.O.M.P. and Service under all circumstances

Thanks Hank. I haven't heard from you in a while, I hope all is well. I have a client upgrading his 2.0 software to 3.1/3.5 I want to know if he is entitled to the free 4.x upgrade. Do you know for sure ? MIke Brennan, Sir Render A/V

It would seem that the 3.1/3.5 upgrade, since it's not a discounted move now, would be the $595 purchase of Toaster 4.0. If they ship anything, it would be 3.1/3.5, and that will be upgraded when Toaster 4.0 is ready. At present I know of no program for the 3.1/3.5 upgrade, per se. I was truly wipped out after the Special Olympics and when I logged on and say 800 messages in one forum and 600 in the other to read, I collapsed again. We're in our new offices now, have a Flyer edit suite setup, and are doing demos daily. Glad to be back to full strength again. There will be and article in VTU about the Olympics next issue. Hi Hank. Chuck never got back to me, and I can't play Newtek guessing games about their upgrade policies.(I guess Chuck can't either,or he would have gotten back to me.) I'm not going to sell the 3.1/3.5 software, because if I do,and 4.x comes out in six weeks, but can't be upgraded for free, my client will expect(and deserve) a refund. Since I'm not willing to take a loss,I'm not going to sell the software. I'm also not selling them Lightwave Intell, and I'm not going to buy a shop copy for myself at this time. I'm a small quantity reseller, but I have some big buck clients (Merv Griffin is the one that this stuff was for) and I need a firm policy to go buy, and support that I can count on. That's what my clients expect. So I guess that I'll just sit back and wait, and not buy anything untill the dust settles. This Sucks! On another note, how about some details on the job you just did ? To recap my other post for you today: sell the 3.1/3.5 upgrade, make sure the purchaser registers it, and 4.0 will be shipped to them when ready, at no charge. Download the NewTek Directory in the Library, and any time you need an instant answer use one of the 800 numbers to dial the appropriate department. Call the NewTek BBS, request dealer status, and you can get the dealer version of that file. Management has informed me they will have an announcement for 3.5 owners shortly. Chuck.
