Seagate is insistant on the packing issue, but we are working with them on a
way to get packing to those who may need it.
Chuck.
Thanks Chuck! 8)

You're welcome!
Chuck.
I called Newte k Customer service as you directed for help with the packaging
of the Seagate drives…..And got passed from one dept to another no one at
Newtek knows what I am talking about.
I have talked to a lot of companies on the phone and Newtek is sure a mess.
Why dont you all go on a retreat and talk to each other.
Ed
I talked to the operations manager this afternoon, and he informed me that the
boxes were to arive tomorrow. I will clarify with him the avenue that is to be
used to request packaging, and post the information, probably along with the
final details on the update program. Some minor details have delayed the start
of the update program, so it has in fact not yet commenced.
Chuck.
Chuck: I know that Newtek will be issuing RA numbers for the Seagate Drives
but — How will Seagate owners get on the list. I know that the Flyer
registration card included a place for Hard Drive type and serial number. Will
Newtek make up a list from this information? Or will the drive owners (or
their dealers) have to request that they be placed on the list? As a dealer I
have a number of customers who need this informatiion. Thanks

I've asked the ops manager for info on this, and I will post when I have a
reply.
Since we are to issue the RMA's, I think that the formal announcement (delayed
due to some last minute details) is going to include this procedure anyway, but
I will check to be sure.
Chuck.
Chuck, I have a project that was basically straight cuts.
I thought no problem cause no effects….
I seems that at the end of every clip it studders just before it cuts to the
next clip. This occurs whether the next clilp is on the same HD or the other
HD. It worked better when I put a fast dissolve between each clip.
Wonder if you have any ideas as to why this is happening.
Ed
PMFJI Ed,
I just described the same thing a few days ago. I have seen this effect on and
off for quite a while.
The reason why this is happening is……get ready now……THE SOFTWARE IS
BUGGY!!! (Where have you been?)
Sorry to be so flippant, 'just getting tired of waiting for 4.05 and hoping
it's worth the wait. Judging from the last few updates, the probablity of a
major dissapointment is high, but somehow I remain stupidly optimistic.
Regards,
Gary
Gary,
I've just noticed since getting back from Orlando, that the Flyer is studdering
more. Could it be 4.04B. I think I had less problems before I installed it.
Fred
Hi Gary,
My problem is that the first several months I had no real projects to
edit….Now I do and am developing the same frustrations as those before me.
Lets hope this NEW SEQUENCER that is supposed to be in 4.05 is a winner.
Ed,
The bit about putting a dissolve between cuts. I noticed this just yesterday. I
had a bunch of straight cuts and it studder on each cut. I changed them to
dissolves and the studdering cleared up.
I also noticed that when I use the "camera shutter" effect or the "picture fly
out" that studdering happens later in the project. Take these effects out and
it clears up.
Of course, both of these effects have sound and I remember at NAB, something
was said about sound effects causing problems.
Sorry to jump in like this, but I was just going to post the same difficulty.
Great minds think alike.
Fred

That's funny, cause I had just the opposite happen to me on several occasions!
Actually, the last frame froze for each clip during the dissolves.
Yes I was one the first to note the Camera Shutter effect caused problems.

I'm not a "seasoned" Amiga user. I've just been using the Toaster since
December – how do you (or can you, at this time) get the sound FX from
transitions like you mentioned to work thru the Flyer audio outputs?
Thanks

Today is the 14th…the day recalls of Seagate drives were to start…but no
one knows how this is going to happen or even if they are on the list….
If you guys want to hire me I will come out there and show you how to get
organized….or at least get the drive situation organized.
The Ops manager had a couple more details to iron out with the program. The
folks who will handle making the calls will be briefed once everything is
settled. Apologies for the delay, and I will post when things are ready to
pop.
Chuck.
Brad,
At least for businesses, it is almost mandatory to keep packaging. Virtually
every peice of equipment I have ever had serviced is covered by instructions
like, "…returned in its original packaging to…"
My problem is static bags. I had a dealer install my Toaster and an
accellerator and a couple other things (dropped off computer, picked up next
day). He tossed all the static bags… :^{

True, at the facility I work at there are 3 good sized offices that are
filled with empty boxes. At home howeverI only keep the ones I may use in the
next move (not the tiny ones).

Hi Wayne,
I have some if you can give me the drive sizes. None for 9GB drive however.

WELLLLLLLL
I wish I had more drive space..only have two 4 gig drives.
As you know – prices are always dropping. Pretty soon they may have to pay you
to take them off their hands.
If we can help, let me know. With our new, heavy discount catalog/buyer club
coming, we might be able to offer you some really super pricing.

Hank,
I think you should cool it on the advertising. This forum is a discussion
between collegues. If you have stuff to sell, post it in the classified section
in Aniga User.

Hank,
I have my boxes. Its Jerry and other that don't. What I am missing is Toaster
sized static bags. My dealer tossed the ones for my '030 acc and original
Toaster when he put them in. And the Toaster 400 came wrapped only in
anti-static bubble wrap, no bag. I've been hunting for bags, but so far all
I've found is a place that only sells them in lots of 50…

I have boxes, Wayne, but only for the tower enclosure.
Wayne never answered my question about whether or not to keep them in the
towers or not. You advised against it.
Jerry
Too many Wayne's running around here – I'm confused…
I think the nice form-fit foam and smaller/lighter packaged of the individual
drives as opposed to shipping in the towers lowers the overall "g-forces" and
effects of careless handling. I had reservations about sending mine to NT that
way that turned out to be well founded. It also defeated the purpose (to show
them how they were rigged since shipping unrigged them to a large extent).

Wayne –
I found that whenever I sent a Toaster for repair to NewTek, I wrapped it in
pink bubblewrap. If I sent it in a silver antistatic bag, within a standard
Toaster-sized pink bubble wrap, it always came back in just the roll pink
bubblewrap.
Unfortunately, I changed the packing only after I ran out of Toaster packaging
so I had no choice.

Thanks, Hank – I'll hold tight to my remaining bags since whenever I remove a
board for any reason, I slide it into the bag right from the computer slot.
Never touches anything else.
