Norm,

Thanks for the reply, but it just doesn't work! I am finding that *nothing*
happens after the dialup window disappears & I've left it for over 10 minutes.
The "PPP failed" message now seems to occur only after I've turned the modem
off.
Oh well, this is one fly not caught in a web :-).

Dom,
I had a problem for a couple of weeks that I could not solve, so I deleted
everything that had to do with AmiTCP, PPP, and AMosiac. Having done that, I
followed the instructions in Intercis.lha, and have been surfing up my phone
bill ever since. Come on in, the surfing is fine, but don't forget your
wallet.

Heh heh. It's a worry, especially here in Australia where it's even more
expensive. However, since I can't get connected at present I'll just think of
it as saving $$$ :-). But I want in <g>.

Dom,
Like you I had problems getting InterCIS to work. Chris, the author, <strongly>
suggests the use of an absolutely <stock> WorkBench. I thought I had
commented-out anything in my Startup-Sequence and User-Startup which could even
<remotely> impact getting AmiTCP & PPP to work. However, I had moved some
seldom-used files to another partition. Chris suggested typing "EXECUTE
AmiTCP:bin/startinternet"
in a CLI, which allowed the requester to appear on screen with its complaint
that a given program couldn't be found. A few minutes file hunting with DOpus
and I was connected on the Internet. Chris has updated the documentation to
include this tip and several others. The latest docs can be found in
"InterInstal.lha."
Good luck getting on the Internet. Chris's program was a real help to me, and
it looks as if it's getting to be even more useful.

Thanks for the encouragement. I tried the execute amitcp bit & my startup
script is original but nothing happens. The dialup script gets to send user
i.d. & then disappears. Strange characters like binary also show up. The shell
just sits there & I wait & wait :-). I sure hope I'm not connected in the
paying sense! I guess that I will get there eventually. Thanks again.
