(CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS MESSAGE) On the 15th of September, still with no copier, I cancelled the order and requested an immediate credit on my account. I was told that that would take seven days. After *eleven* days I called the bank and was told that there was no credit to my account. Calling Comp-U-Store once again got me the information that the charge would be credited by *October 6* ! I complained that they had been quick to charge me — one week after the order was placed (long before the copier was supposed to have been shipped) that I thought they should return the favor and credit my account just as quickly. This elicited nothing but dead air. After waiting four months for a badly needed copier purchased in good faith, I wound up with nothing but a $600 debt on my credit card. If you are planning on doing any Christmas shopping with Comp-U-Store, you are already too late. Consider this a warning to think twice before you order anything important or expensive from Comp-U-Store because you are very likely to wind up with nothing but aggrevation and disappointment. I don't make a practice of publishing bad reviews on companies that make errors, but this is so flagrant an example of incompetence and bad faith I consider it my duty to warn everyone about it.

I have had similar experiences with Comp-U-Store, and urge everyone else who has to jump down Compuserve's throats on this or they're going to further tarnish an already tarnished reputation.

V, I've purchased several big ticket items through CUS, and have had no problems (knock on wood). My impression is that CUS is really nothing more than a middleman for a large number of smaller firms around the country; your order comes in one end, and they send a purchase order and debit statement out the other. I agree completely that CUS' failure to notify you of both the credit foulup and late shipment is inexcusable, tho. For my own part, everything I've ordered has been received within 30 days (often much less) and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.
