I am installing a new 2.04 version of workbench(kickstart) in my old A500
(rev.5.0)with 1meg fatter Agnus and 2meg added memory on a BaseBoard). I want
to keep the old 1.3 ROM usable so I am using a Switch-IT device so that I can
use both old and new workbench systems. The direction from CBM says to
"jumpered" pin 1 (A17) on the 2.04 ROM to pin 31 (A17) from the PCB. I am not
familar with the use of "jumpered". Does that mean to run a jumper wire from
pin 1 on the chip to pin 31 ? Should these pins be soldered ? Or does it mean
to connect a link from pin 1 on the chip to pin(socket)31 on the ROM socket?
Should any pins be cut off ? The first directions that I have indicated come as
is direct for the CBM instruction sheet. Can anyone help with this project.
Thanks.
If you don't know what "jumpered" means, don't do this yourself. That
instruction sheet was written for technicians. Have your ROM installed by
an Amiga dealer.
BTW, the jumpering only applies to certain revisions of the A500
motherboard.
