#extra windows on old bb?

Don, one other thought (and I've ruled out the window patch and handywb
since my last message); could there be something about the real old bb's
made in Germany and my old 4.2 2000 that could be causing this? I found
out yesterday that a much newer bb was much easier to get to work in my
2000 and am wondering whether there are any other such issues.

I've never used a Bridgeboard older than a 2086 on an Amiga older than a
2500, so it could be a bug that's been fixed.

At this point, while the old bb is a royal pain in the butt to work with
compared to the newer ones (German antique vs far easter newer one), I've
now found that the problem has something to do with my ami side software; I
did the bootup test on floppies as you and Don suggested. It worked
perfectly with Spectrum. I rebooted the Ami on hd and the bb on floppy and
had the problem. I'll do more testing tonight and tomorrow.

Replying to my own message; Tom, the problem has been Qmouse's screen
shuffler.

Try ClockDJ instead. I don't seem to have the problems you do with ClockDJ
using just about ALL its functions with a 2500/30 and at bridge at work.

Once I turned off the screen shuffler that I never realized it had its
worked fine.

Actually, screen sufflers are very handy. With ClockDJ, I just use Left
Amiga M to cylce through the various screens I have up. And, since I
usually like having each task running on its own full size screen, I use it
a lot.

Nope…I've got the same version of both the Bridge and motherboard
as you have.
Mine's a very early A2000 (bought early during the first 1000 +
$1000 == 200 campaign) and also an early BB with the modifications wired on
the back.

I bought my 2000 (4.2) the same way as you did, but the bb was bought 1
year ago; sounds like J&R had it in stock for a long time. But my bb is
extremely sensitive physically. Its my guess, given that this dates back
to day 1 that I had it, that the sockets for the square chips just aren't
very good.; as you flex the board just a little bit, one or more contacts
loses it.

Yes, that's true. I had the same problem until I removed the chips
and bent the contacts on the socket out a tiny bit to insure they make good
contact.
My problems with it having to be seated just exactly right to work
went away. I've had it out a couple of times since then. To get it
working again…I simply inserted it just like any other card. No playing
with it to get it into just the right position.
