Fossil dino embryos?

John, Yeah, Orlando is a little farther north of where she has been collecting.
She's usually down southeast of Tampa, or south of Lakeland. She's found giant
sloths, one of the largest armadillos ever found in Florida (larger than the
one in the museum at U of Florida), cameloids, dugongs, a coiled snake skeleton
(fossilized in that condition), dolphins, mammoth teeth, early horse teeth (I
never remember if they're eo- or meso-hippus)(and I should, I raise horses!),
the list goes on and on and on. She's talking about building a special building
in her yard to store her fossils in so she can walk around her living room
again! Oh, I forgot the ubiquitous shark's teeth! How much time will you be
spending? I hope you realize you'll get great rates on your room – even with
people with kids, August is NOT the prime season in Florida <G>. If you have
time, I could ask Barbara when her fossil club is going out & see if you could
join them. Anne E. Wright
I'll be at the Siggraph computer graphics convention at the end of July, in
Orlando. But I visit Florida every couple years or so, just like anyone else
who lives in snow. 🙂 I am sure I'll be in the Tampa area in coming years,
and the fossils aren't going anywhere, so I'll file away what you tell me and
use it when the time comes. These sorts of recent fossils are very interesting
to me.
You raise horses? My wife and I hope to get a farm in the next few years, and
she's got her heart set on a pair of Icelandic horses.
John, The next time I talk to Barbara, I'll see if her club lets visitors tag
along & get back to you.
I've always though the Icelandic horses were cute, but in our climate
I'd worry about heat stroke – they tend to have heavy coats and chunky bodies
that don't dissapate heat well. They should do fine in your area, tho. Just
remember that the more exotic breeds are not as common and the price tends to
be much higher than the popular breeds, like Quarter Horses – that's what we
breed. Contact the breed association (if you don't have their address, I
should have it somewhere) and they can help you find breeders. If you want a
particular breed, start learning about them now.
