I am having a problem rendering part of a animated segment (on one machine) the rest of which is rendering just fine on another. The file that doesnt render correctly has 1.1 vapor and some IPAS disk 5 things, which set up ok at the begining of rendering. The problem is during the rendering itself. The disk drive spins and spins, and after about six hours, one frame will have been rendered. This on a Dell Omniplex 90 pentium. The machine that works is a Dell P-60 with 32 megs ram. It does one frame in about 30 minutes. The Omniplex has only 16 meg. I am also running 3ds in VGA on it due to problems selecting from object name dialogue boxs in the keyframer. If I can't get the last 300 frames going on the Omniplex 90, it will be the end of next week before I get the job done! Any suggestions? Gary's gone for a few days, but if I'm hearing you right – this possibly sounds normal. That is, if one machine has some IPAS stuff, especially Vapor, and only has 16MB RAM – then you easily could be requiring much more memory to render (again, especially w/ Vapor), and forcing paging to disk. This alone would cause rendering to slow down many orders of magnitude without even considering the sometimes enormous requirements of Vapor. BILL

Philip, << long rendering times.. >> We need to see the results from executing the Info/Status command (ie. "?")… after rendering a frame to help understand your environment. jonas[adesk]
