Since installing WB 3.1 on my A2000 the pallete selections for PCWindow have gone wrong. Generally I use mono emulation and use an installed VGA card if I need color. The BB is a 386 using Janus 2.1. Usually my mono settings are 2 color, amber on black and on its own screen. After installing 3.1 and making no other changes, the colors became magenta(ish) on black. Resetting the palette and then saving the settings does not work, the palette reverts to the wrong colors on subsequent reloads. Removing the VGA card also revealed similar problems with the color emulation. Anybody else suffering from this odd complaint? Better yet, can anybody effect a cure? Robert.

Robert, If you are using a video card, then set the video emulation to none. With a video card you don't want the emulator running in any video mode. When you run pcwindow you will get an open window, but nothing in it. However, when you switch the monitor to the video card you should get the pc video. The problem with color settings not being saved has been a known problem with Janus 2.1.

Steven, Having only one monitor and not often needing color, I usually use Mono emulation. This saves a load of trouble turning off, replugging monitor into VGA card etc. My prefs settings disable color but enable mono. After loading PCMono I blind-type MODE MONO and can then use mono emulation. The MSD prog with DOS 6 sees the mono emulator as a secondary video adapter. Previously PCMono was used under WB2.04/2.1 and performed fine apart from the occasional keyboard lockout. The first time it was loaded under 3.1 the pallete went awry. Still, if its a known problem I will just have to live with it. I might even get to like magenta colored text, eventualy. Thanks, Robert.

Robert, Since you have only one monitor, you may want to consider getting a switchbox so you can switch the monitor to the VGA card when you use the bridgeboard. You can get these boxes from JDR MicroSystems for about $35 and two 15 pin VGA cables for about $16. Alternatively, EMC (Elite Micro Computers) sells a product called SwiftSwitch which performs the switching auto- matically.
