Hi Bob, I've been away for a while but I noticed your last note to Brian concerning Planet Studio. I haven't talked with him since then–what was your suggestion concerning a disk? (I can't retrieve that message!) Thanks! –Barbara Gefvert Editor, Planet Studio

<<For added value and a way to justify the exorbitant cost for the magazine, how about including a utility disk with each issue? You could include some .MLI files, a simple IPAS, a few texture maps, etc.>> I was going to get this to you when you returned. –Brian

Barbara: I'll try to dig up the message but the point about the disk was this: One way to justify the high price of the magazine would be to package a floppy disk with the issue each month. On the disk could be utilities, quickie IPAS routines, .MLI files, motion capture files, sound effects, demo's of products, etc. I'll look throught the archives to find the original note. Bob

Barbara, I'd be interested in info on your future plans for Planet Studio. I may be interested, but it'd have to be more substantive than the Siggraph copy. It was definately well done, and nicely laid out, pretty pictures, etc. But it's about 3-4 more times more $ than 3D Artist, which packs alot more stuff in it. A disc/CD addition may make it worth while, or if it gave a couple mini tutorials (of different complexity) each issue. If you've uploaded some info, let me know where to find it. Good luck. Thanks. John, Sorry I took so long to respond… The "real" issues of Planet Studio WILL be more susbtantive than the sample SIGGRAPH copy. For one thing, they'll have twice the number of pages (and still no advertising). We realize that it's quite a bit more expensive than 3D Artist, but we're focusing ONLY on Autodesk software, which no other publication does (other than user group newsletters). We intend to provide highly useful tips and techniques–and tutorials like you mentioned–that you won't be able to find elsewhere. I have not uploaded anything besides a press release announcing the newsletter, but maybe I'll send up the proposed contents for issue 2 once I get everything nailed down. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks for the good wishes! –Barbara Gefvert Editor, Planet Studio
