To Martin Foster Sorry guy their is a Phd, a Doctor, and a regular guy here and we all check (about 10 times each) the Valit template objects page 29 & 30 a and it was not clear to us. Your statement about 3d lofter was the first that we know of, thank you for clearifying that, it would be nice if you put that statement in your documentation, or at least in "valid template objects" section. Three of us have spent many wasted and frustrated hours with this problem, includeing going through the manual page by page. I thank you for your suggestion and will try that. By the way I tried useing slice and for a end user with no knowledge on how to use that program, it shure would have been nice to have a little more documentation, such as maby an ideal # of cross points and mabe some example. I'm afraid its going to fall into "thats nice but I can't figure it out program. Nice tutorial on skin!!!!!!!! we been very pleased with 4 of your

From page 5 of the Disk 6 manual, at the start of the Skin tutorial…. "NOTE: Although you can assign other types of mesh objects as templates for Skin, we strongly recommend that you use the 3D Lofter to make your template objects. Skin uses the order of the vertices in the mesh to properly apply the Bezier patch, and the 3D Lofter creates the vertex order correctly. Other mesh objects produce unpredictable results." And the Valid Template Objects section lists valid objects as… "Lofted objects in which the shapes consist of a single polygon…, a 2D grid made with…", and several primitive objects made in the 3D editor. Most meshes from companies like Viewpoint are digitized, NOT lofted, and many of these have been cleaned up, had vertices deleted, etc, and therefore do not fall into the catagory of Valid skin objects as listed in the manual.
