#POCO Beta testers wanted

David- I have this need for a Poco… and thought I would see if you think it
is a good idea. when I stamp a brush it would be nice if the eage of the cell
was smoothed but not the inside. Dpaint has this but not Ani. I think this
would be helpfull for animations -Brandon

Hummm…!
not quite sure if I know precicely the effect you have in mind.
Is it like first paste a cell, and then apply an Ink – like smooth,
UnZag, Unbuzz just to edges of cel paste?
any signifigance to width of overlap (like 2-32 pixels) as
adjustment ?
need to use with optics?
any other special requirements?
Is this a routine you need, want, can't live without, think would be
cool?
got any money in budget?<g>
Seriously if you have a need & $'s it would make a signifigant
difference in priorities.
If not, I will add it to growing list of POCOs to play with as time
allows- it sounds like it may be useful.
Thanks much for input

Thats right to stamp down a cell and have only 2 or 3 pixels get the smoothing
of the outer eage. It should be for optics and sprite pasting.
regarding $ I will have to pass it buy my Producer can you Email a aprox price
that it would be? and how soon it will take? I will run it buy him. we are
finishing up Simant now but it would be nice for the next project. make sure
you Email Brandon ID #74724,3165 and not this acct# Thanks -Brandon

I think I have a tempoary solution for you.
you can probably reduce it to a macro
1. insert extra frame or use swap screen
save you cel if you are going to need it again
2. clear screen
3. turn on One Color option
"1" is hot key
4. use opaque ink, easy to see color [white? if key color is black]
5. paste cel
you should have a solid [white cel] "Blob"
6. select hollow ink
7. use fill or seperate (single color ) on "Blob"
you should now have a out line of the "Blob"
line width is one pixel
8. select opauqe ink & white color again
make sure brush is 1 pixel (you may want to experiment with bigger
values 2-3)
9. select edge tool –
click on background
outline should be 3 pixels (I didn't count them)
10. Get Cel and delete work frame or swap back
11. select Unzag, or Sooth or what ever INK and paste New Outline Cel over
previous Cel pastings
If you're freehand pasting – It is going to be hard to line them up
exactly!
using grid or 2-3 pixels helps with out getting too chunky –
but you have to do this first!
I think this should also work for optics.
making this a POCO isn't straight forward – don't have access to magic One
Color option , or Edge – some of many things left out of POCO
this incompletness is sort of a pet peve amongst POCOers – you get 90% of a
program done and then find you have to reinvent something that is a single key
stroke in Ani. Not to worry – I m sure there is a way.
Any way this should give you something to use – and see what specifics need to
change – for a program
for instance I think maybe you may want to have a slider adjustment for
outline width, but if it is something not used – then you would find it
anoying, I think
best way to discover these things is to use them a while and jot down
notes – " I really wish ….."
also helps justify spending money for tools – do the steps above and
see how long it takes – if it is something you do a lot
X minutes * Y times per week * $/minute * 52 = payback in a year
Let me know what you think & I'll get an Email estimate to you soon.
Mike Thank you for your help! I will give this a try but it looks like having a
custom Poco would be better, as I stamp down animated cells over background
plates. the last animation was 350 frames each with animated cells moving all
over the place! [lots of darn ants] it is to bad about the Poco coad, why can't
we get this from Autodesk? I think any type of smoothing coad would be welcome
as it lacks this now. And who can wait for one year for the windows ver <g>
Gary could you help Mike on this?
Thanks -Brandon
David I called you Mike sorry about that I am need of some sleep… -Brandon
