#3ds3 – 3d Editor problem

I have been using 3dS r.3 for about two years. Just recently, my main video board went down, so I am forced to build using a Diamond Speedstar 64 for a couple of weeks. First I used the RCPADI drivers supplied by Diamond, then I tried the new Vibrant drivers supporting the cirrus 543x. While in 3d Editor, using either video driver, when I am working with any 3d Mesh(freshly created or imported) the 3d mesh will usually distort out to a point in space creating vertices with hundreds of lines or polygons. This usually takes place after I have zoomed extents or have done a redraw all, sometimes it has even happened in Keyframer. This becomes permenant and I must start over or reload from a previous save. What is going on…? Will this happen when I get my repaired card back and switch to the Autodesk supported Vibrant drivers? Any help would be appreciated. Also, how can I get hardcopy info on new 3d studio stuff, ie. R4, MAX, modules, etc. Is there an infofax #? Greg Steirer AST Computer, Inc. Irvine, CA

Greg, Usually the vertices shooting off into space is a virus-related problem. Check the computer for any such beasts, and reload from the original disks. If it still occurs, time to involve your dealer, maybe get a new set of disks. Any of the dealers in the Orange/L.A. County areas should be able to give you info, specs on R4, MAX, etc. The Autodesk referral line is 800/879-4233. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates
