DirectorMouse??

I'm working on an interactive artwork using Right Answers Group's The Director2. I am running into a problem and hoped someone here might be able to give me some advice. The program I'm working on requires the user to move the mouse to keep events going. I'm using the IFMOUSE X,Y command to process mouse movements continuously. This command returns a -1 to the x variable if the mouse is still and a positive x coordinate if the mouse is moving. That's how I tell if the user is there and engaged in the work. I am also using ABORT 0, which defeats the usual mouse button responses of The Director2. The problem comes when the user doesn't just move the mouse but begins clicking away on the mouse buttons. Rapid, repeated clicking of either or both mouse buttons seems to send the program off into some weird, "never-never-land" state where it just doesn't work correctly. I'd like to find a way to have the program either ignore these clicks or, if there's no way to do that, to have it "process" them in some less harmful way, so that they don't cause the whole program to go haywire. Basically, then, how can I get The Director2 to ignore mouse button clicks? Any help will be appreciated. George Roland

George, Its been ages since I used Director but I will help you if I can. >> This command returns a -1 to the x variable if the mouse is >> still and a positive x coordinate if the mouse is moving. I assume you have set your mouse mode to MOUSE 1 (continuous mouse events & disables right mouse button). My understanding of the IFMOUSE is that the -1 value for the x parameter only indicates if the button has or has not been pressed. You would only be able to determine if there is movement by comparing the x,y values from a past sample with new x,y values. However, if your program works then I may be mistaken. Does the problem occur only with rapid clicking? Have you looked at the dragbrush demo? It does something similar to what you are doing. Perhaps you can upload a sample of the code that handles this procedure (remember to put a space before the forward slash ( / ) because CIS will read it as a command. BTW, You might get a better response in the future to post your Director questions in the Multimedia Section of AmigaArts, just a suggestion. andrew ICAM — ActiveMedia Development / IICS "InforMedia" Newsletter Editor Gliding in from Toronto on AutoPilot…
