when rendering a camera viewport my objects mapping goes haywire! if i render the same camera viewport by just rendering object the mapping is fine(and image looks great), but if i render view the objects material changes appearance and i notice what looks like a triangular patch running down object with horizontal smear of material(planar mapping on a planar object simulating carpet)… anybody have an idea of what is going on? is this hardware/software i don't know??? using 3ds4 on gateway p5-66 64mg matrox ultima 2mg video card,(replaced pentium chip 3months ago shouldn't affect this?).

Tony You might try tesselating the floor object. It sounds like it only has 2 faces and is having trouble stretching the mat'l. -Ted Boardman

G'day Tony You should also make sure there are no co-planar faces in the floor, as this can cause the exact problem, and it is always a good idea to use a grid (PXP GRIDS) instead of a box for floors etc. as you get better shadowing, less problems, and better looking lighting if 3DS has more than a paltry 2 faces to work with! Best of luck, -Peter
