WP Problems

I bought a copy of WordPerfect on Thursday and have been having a lot of problems since. When I tried to install the program I discovered that the WP disk was actually a mis-labelled copy of Learn. I called the Tech Support number (BTW why are the hours not those in the manual?) and was told to call Softcopy. I called the number I was given and it was the Animal Shelter. I called T.S. back and finally convinced them to send me a new disk, although they said it wouldn't be shipped until Monday and by UPS ground. Friday evening I decided to copy the other three disks and found that the Speller disk was unreadable. I tried to reach T.S. today (Saturday) but got a recording saying to call back during normal business hours, although the manual says they're there on Saturday. I am a very(!) dissatisfied customer. Is this your normal way of doing business? Chris Kennedy

Chris: Truly sorry to hear of the problems that you have been having. Just for the record (and really your own benifit) few companies support any product as well as WordPerfect Corp. Many of us on this forum are using WP for the Amiga. The first issue did have quite a few bugs, many of which those of us on the forum discovered. Part of the reason for the many problems that showed up here is that many of the Amy users that are on this forum make extensive use of the Amy's multitasking ability. WP Corp showes up here quite regularly and you will find that they will attempt to help you (mainly with technical problems since they are part of product development and not customer service). I personnally have used the customer service available with WP corp and have been very please at their handling of problems. Give them a chance and I think that you too will be pleased. Their Amiga customer service is available Monday through Friday from about 9 AM till about 5 PM (I am not certain on the hours) MST. I suspect that as the sales of Amiga products increases they will add Saturday service. 73, bill

I'm glad to hear that they usually give good support. My only complaint with the customer service hours is that they don't match what it says in my manual. Chris

Chris: They usually will try to answer questions for you on Saturday but they really can't help much if you are dealing with an Amiga specific question. I have received some assistance on Saturdays but it was on questions concerning WP and were germain to any WP version. 73, bill

Well, I'm going to call them again tomorrow and see if I can get a new Speller disk sent out along with the program disk. I've heard so many good things about this program that I'm very anxious to get it working. It's very frustrating to have these kinds of problems and not be able to get any action.

Chris, The disk problem you have is something the dealer ought to take care of for you….presuming you bought the program for a local dealer. Don

Unfortunately, I bought the program from a systems house our company deals with and they don't stock any software, only get it from a distributor on order. They say the distributor is very slow in processing returns. Chris
