#Synercom Monitor
6 messages in this thread
Has anyone ever heard of a colour monitor by a company called Synercom? We have
some of these where I work and I was wondering if they could be made to work
with a Flicker Fixer equipped Amiga.
I'm not familiar with the Synercom, but if it claims to be compatible with IBM
VGA, then it will work with flicker fixer (with an appropriate cable). The
requirements are: Analog RGB, TTL separate negative syncs, 31.5 KHz horizontal,
60 (50 for PAL version) Hz. vertical. All VGA or multiscanning monitors will
work. Peter.
Thanks. I'll try it and see what happens.
Peter, if it the monitor is VGA only then will it work with x200 graphics
modes or just de-interlaced x400 modes? Also what about the new modes? I think,
redirecting this to Claudio, that it is safest to go with a multisync monitor.

Ethan, flicker fixer automatically line doubles non-interlaced modes. This
eliminates visible scan lines and permits the use of VGA monitors which will
only operate at 31.5 KHz. There are some unique VGA monitors like the Zenith
ZCM-1490 flat screen or the Seiko CM-1430 which uses a very fine pitch
Trinitron tube. If you are not using a flicker fixer, a multisync is a better
choice. The only new mode which might be of interest is the 1280 x 200/400. In
my opinion, this is unlikely to find many applications outside of video. Peter.
Peter, thanks. Didn't realize the FF always changed the signal. I also
didn't realize the FF would allow me to use a VGA monitor because that might be
a cheaper setup then the Multisync I got ripped off for.
