ANIMATION IN THE COURTRM
9 messages in this thread
Is anyone using 3D studio for Litigation graphics and animation ?
I'm spending alot of time looking into that possiblity now. Why do you ask?
Do you have some interest in this subject? If I do go ahead with this
business, it would be in approximately 3 months. See my message to John
Sergneri in the Hrdware/Drvrs section.
Rick
Hi Rick,
The reason we are interested is the fact that Viewpoint started out as an
Animation company specializing in Animation for the Courtroom. We started
getting more and more calls from people who wanted to buy our vehicles. We
don't just model our cars. We actually drive them into our lab and using a
laser digitizer we get enough points to represent the surfaces. The data
is accurate to a 1/10th of an inch and becomes a very crucial component to
the expert trying to show a jury what happens in an accident.
We quit doing animation the first of this year so we weren't competing with
the people we sell objects to. Now we have over 80 vehicles out of
hundreds of other objects (see VPMESH in What's new).
The latest is we have put 10-20 of these objects into libraries and will
have them available for $295 at Comdex. (We are taking orders now).
We think 3D Studio will be used a lot in Litigation and we would like to
provide objects to that market….
Thanks, John Wright Viewpoint 801-224-2222
John,
Where will you be at Comdex ?
Bruce
Bruce,
We will have a drop box in the Autodesk booth and two of us (John Mellor
and myself) will be handing out order forms for Dealers and end users to
order either a Dealer Kit or our 3DS Mesh Libraries (air and Sea, Anatomy,
and 2 Vehicles collections).
We will be checking in with Viewpoint in Utah, if anyone wants to pin us
down.
See you there, John
Well, John, as you know, Viewpoint recently completed a litigation model
for us. It's time for an unsolicited testimonial. When a company agrees
to create a model, as you did, and everything goes off without a hitch, the
client is happy, and the tape is "in the can", all that can be said is
"they did their job". But I believe that a company shows its true colors
when things don't work out so easily. When problems occur, as they
frequently do, the opportunity is provided to guage many important factors:
a company's perseverence, their pride in their work and sense of teamwork,
and dedication to their clients (to name a few). In our first project with
Viewpoint, we had such an opportunity. You and your staff, John, should be
proud. You braved a variety of factors which might well have spelled
failure for a less-dedicated group and you made us very happy. You can be
sure that we will look forward to our next opportunity to work with you and
recommend you both for the quality of your work and for the fair pricing.
I have heard many here comment that your custom models are expensive.
Obviously, they have never tried to build them <grin>. Special kudos to JT
and Chad!

Ken – I have goose bumps all over …..
Thanks for the kind words, we are new to the "Mass" market but Viewpoint
would like to continue to be as personal as possible. We ask our customer
to let us know the goods and bads so we can make the bads good.
Just a note – Even though we carry a money back satisfaction guarantee,
we realize that most of the time money is not the issue when you have a
production deadline to meet. Therefore, we are trying to carry a "do the
best we can" guarantee.
Thanks again – John Wright – Viewpoint
John – Where are you in Utah. So far, I'm the only one who's done anything
with 3DS ( that I know of ) in the Salt Lake Area.
John,
We are in Orem. Take the Center Street exit. Turn right (west) and then
an immediate left (south) on South Mountainway. We are at 140 S. right
next to the horse pasture.
Come and Visit ……. Thanks, John Wright – Viewpoint 801-224-2222
