#Win 3.1 dialog DLL
6 messages in this thread
To SysOps: Where in the world would I find the 'standard dialogs' dll for
functions such as 'file open', 'file save', 'color select' that was
mentioned at the Developer's Tools Forum in Seattle in August (which I
attended). It was stated that it would be on Compuserve and was available
now and would be included in Win 3.1. However, I have looked all over all
MS forums here and can't find hide nor hair of it. What gives?

Helen:
You've gotten slightly conflicting information. It's being distributed as
part of the 3.1 beta, but it works with 3.0 and can be distributed with your
applications now if you fill out a licensing agreement and send it in to MS.
I don't think it's in the Libs here on CIS. If it were, though, it would
likely be in the ISV section (16) in MSOPSYS.
BTW, I think it's referred to as 'common dialogs'.
Helen,
My company's MicroHelp Muscle has the common dialog routines with
easy-to-use "wrappers". (It also includes more than 400 other routines!)
If you have the COMMDLG.DLL (and the docs, which are part of Win 3.1), you
can use all of the common dialogs except "Find Text" and "Replace Text"
(because they require message processing) directly from VB, as long as you
don't mind the inability to have Help available. Our product provides an
interface so you can have help *and* process the messages from Find Text
and Replace Text.
I'll be happy to send you a brochure and demo if you'll leave me your
address in a MAIL message.

Mark,
I'd be interested in a demo copy of your VB-Muscle product. Here's my
address:
Peter Traeg
Eastman Kodak Company

Rochester, NY 14653-5221 (The ZIP+4 is important or it will get lost
in
the mail room for sure!)
Thanks,
..Pete

Pete,
I'll be sending you info on our products (along with a demo) right away.
Thanks for asking.
Just to clarify – you'll be getting a demo program, not a "demo copy" of
the product.
