My company is working on a product called TurboSync.
It's an external device that will let you fix the scan rate at 31.5, 48,
63, or 75 KHz It's due to come out in NOV
But I'm not deffinatly guaranting that it will, I should know in about 2-3
weeks (working on proto's).
So you may want to grab onto that 17"

I guess I'm butting in here…but if you're only working on
prototypes now, how do you expect to get the final product thru FCC
approval and ready for sale by November…or anywhere close?

You don't HAVE to have something go through FCC to sell it……in fact it
costs THOUSANDS (like $5000) to have computer systems tested. Other devices
are not much cheaper.

If the device modifies the radiation characteristics of the
machine, or has an external port…then according to everything I've
read…it MUST be FCC approved.
And apparently the FCC also believes this…they've shut down quite
a few hardware manufacturers for failing to get their equipment approved.
They also pulled equipment from vendors shelves if the equipment isn't
registered.
I am not a hardware manufacturer, nor do I have a copy of the FCC
regs so obviously I'm not an authority on this subject, I just know that
the FCC is getting real picky again…and though you might be interested.

The video signals themselves do not emit any radiation….it's the monitor
that emits radiation…..so no worries here.

I would think that _any_ electric signal travelling on a wire emits
_some_ radiation…

I you're a _cable_ carrying video signals, you emit radiation. So does
almost anything else that has video 'in' it.
Oh come on, It gives of some radiation…..but then so does the sun…so
does a bit of everything…..but it won't cook eggs if you know what I mean
🙂

I don't think the FCC cares whether it cooks eggs. But they and _I_
care whether it interferes with radio transmission. You can't arbitrarily
hook antennas up to radio signals without a license….hence the need for
approval.
OH….So in your strange kind of technical fashion your asking if it has a
ground plane and is the chassis grounded? Yes it will be. And it will look
real pretty to! 🙂

I don't have direct knowledge (whether you do or do not need FCC
approval) but I think what Vic and Don are saying is that if you look into
it, you'll find that you DO need FCC approval for a device such as your
company is planning so sell.

The video signals traveling along a wire certainly do emit
radiation. No, not alot, but enough that the FCC is usually concerned
about it. Again, I pass this on only for your information. I'd suggest a
call to your local FCC field office…I mean after all, if you're not doing
anything wrong selling non-certified equipment…they'll verify it.
Again, I'm certainly not an expert in this area…but I truely
believe that the answer you'll get is that your equipment needs to be
certified.
