#Are these guys legit?

Has anyone had any dealings with either "Trade Shows" in Marion, IN or
"ERM Electronic Liquidators" in Melrose, MA? I came across their ads
in Nuts & Volts, and their prices look pretty good. But I'm
reluctant to hand over my credit card number to people I've never
heard of when some of their prices look "too good to be true".
Gettin' old, I guess…
Ran,
Don't know about "Trade Shows", but I _have_ dealt with ERM and they are
reliable with good prices. In fact I bought my CD-Rom drive from them and
have been very happy with it. They generally exhibit at the computer flea
market shows in the New England area.

The Indiana company is a valid company and operated with a female business
person. They are a customer of us. I have not heard about the other one.

I've only had one dealing with ERM, the telephone ordering of a single
disc at a very low price. I was concerned because I was calling from
Canada and like many Canadians have a concern of dealing with
discount American direct sales outfits — we don't have the
protection of your postal laws, etc.
The person I spoke to was very helpful, I was told the price had been
reduced and was actually less than the last ad I'd seen. Apparently there
is a minimum order (very low) but the disc I wanted was under that. The
person waived the rule because I hadn't known about it — although I
offered to buy a couple of other discs to make up the price.
I received the order quickly, all was correct, a full catalogue was
included, everything was carefully packed.
I was very impressed at every step of the way and would not hesitate to
deal with ERM again, in fact now their ads are among the first I look for
when I buy a computer mag.
Hope that helps. Cheers from chilly Canada!
I know "Crazy Bob" from ERM and he was at Boston, very reputable and good
prices. Frank Harris
Do you know Crazy Bob's phone #?

I've never heard of them (ERM) before.
ERM is Crazy Bob's company. Guess I should have mentioned that in the
message.

ERM is one of a growing number of small companies that deal in CDROM
remainders, up-dated discs etc. Low prices, low margins = low profile I
guess.
CAn you define small? I personally know that Bob's business is in the
millions. To me the remark could be considered disparaging. Not to
mention that Bob is also the largest dealer for Chestnut Software who
released ten ROMS that sell for between 19 – 25 each. As far as low
profile there isn't one member of this forum who could not live a
year on his monthly ad budget! Frank

I'm looking for an old all text groliers encyclopedia so I can test my
ISO-9660 driver on it. Also maybe try to reverse engineer the indexing
scheme. I heard ERM has it for $20 … I wonder if anyone has an old
version they would give away for free?
I also sell them for twenty. Any freebies go to not for profits and
schools. Frank
What is your phone number again?
