Help!!! I've run into something I just can't figure out in Ani Pro… I'm trying to use a standard color of H=170, L=84, and S=219 in a series of flic's. I start a new flic, adjust a color in the palette to this HLS, and save the palette… Now I find that the HLS setting is at H=170, L=85, and S=214, it's changed!! All these flics will end up being pieces of a much larger flic, and my colors have to all work right, whats going on? I'm hoping that since HLS is a 32 bit color definition, and AniPro is a 8 bit color program this is just a minor bug, and my colors aren't really shifting… just the numbers are… What's the real scoop? How do I fix this, we're in the final stages of a project due Friday… HELP!! Paul Unterweiser, Unterweiser Studio-Animation

You're correct, Paul. Since the HLS numbers are defined in 24-bit color space, and AAP is an 8-bit program, the granularity of actual colors is one color per every four numbers. You should be fine. – G

Animator Pro gives you 256 colors from the _VGA_ palette – which has only 64 levels of RGB – versus the 256 levels of (each) RGB you get with 24-bit color. (32 bit color is 24 bit plus an "alpha" channel generally used to indicate transparency when combining signals.) So Animator Pro has a possible 256,000 colors versus 16.7 million. What you are seeing seems to be the rounding effect. (Though 219 to 214 seems to be larger than necessary – 220 might be a better choice.) "Read The Fine Manual" – page 4-2 in the reference guide.
