#Section 14?????

I'm glad to see you both here (Ok, Ken – I know you've been here
before) but the going the Internet route and then forwarding messages
to the ETSs WON"T work! I need you both on section 14 so that you
can read the messages others post and so they can read yours. We
reallllly need to start a dialogue on the J2 product!
Steve, I will call Jeff Pike tomorrow morning and make sure you have
access to Section 14 of the forum. I can't understand why you're
finding a list that only goes up to 12 …. there are several more
sections than that. What software are you using? Please give us
more details on any problems you run into.
Milt, please take no offense here, in respect to CIS vs. Internet…
Steve Reed and I have been emailin' for years, now, and the response
time is immediate between his and my workstation… if we have a
question, etc, we fire off the email, and we don't have to wait for
the other party to log on , D/L, then upload a response, which can
have more than a 24 hour delay. Also, internet is a free access at
our universities, so the frequency of email is not hampered by the
CI$. I am on the CIS system a minimum of once every 24 hour period,
and will monitor additional messages w/respect to the Smurfs. The
other Smurfs will see our (Steve's..) emails traffic on J2 and can
respond etc. Please let me know if you see a problem with this
method…kla
No offense taken, but I will still insist that everyone be active on
the ETS forum. If that can be done via Internet, that's great, but
my understanding is that Internet messages can only be posted to
Compuserve's Mail forum.
I will never discourage you from continuing your quick (and free)
communications channel via Internet. On the other hand, though, I
think everyone needs to be checking in on the ETS forum so that they
may monitor, discuss, react, argue, etc. with the other SMurfETS
about J2 topics. In my letter I was trying to point out how
frustrating the silence on these topics has been over the past 6
months. The actual numbers – 14 messages that ANYTHING to do with
this new product. Each beta release brought with it many more
changes than that and all of these "begged for discussion" by our
group. It is imperative that everyone read and respond firsthand so
that we can all benefit from their expertise and input.
Section 14, ETS, is a RESTRICTED forum set up specifically for this
purpose. All discussions on pre-release software SHOULD be taking
place there. In addition, ALL of the ETSs will benefit from the
other CIS forums and discussions they choose to take part in (or
listen in on). In their roles, they must be experts on J2, but
certainly well-aware of new (and old) information on other products
as well.

I agree, internet is much more friendly. I can see the message coming through
the moment it is recieved. With Compuserve, I have to log on to find if anyone
has responded. This not only takes away valuable time, but cost a heck of a

Milt had a good point, with Internet to the CIS email, you can not
post to the bulletin board for all eyes to see the traffic. The email
only goes to the TO: person. We would need a "person" id for the
forum section, i.e. forum acad, section 11, all… I am not aware of
that option, but it would save us a lot of time, and still keep
others posted…
