#Tinting the Grays

I would like to be able to tint black and white photos (I have only a
black and white scanner). Is there an easy way to do this with AAPRO
(version 1.0)? I imagine Photoshop, et al, can do this, but $$…
I have tried creating gradient clusters and using Glass ink, but it
doesn't work very well. What I'd _like_ is an ink that, say,
replaces a color in Cluster A with a _corresponding_ color in Cluster
B.
Am I missing something?–it's been a while since I really dug into the
manual!
I'm sure you could do this with aapro, one way or another. I'd think
the sep (seperate) and fill tools would be useful in this regard. Sep
in particular has some nice features for seperating out entire
colours or areas of colour (or shade of gray, in the case of black
and white photos) as a single colour, or near colour, or cluster. You
might want to look at the great tutorials to see this in use. The
only problem I could see would be the annoying 256 colour limitation.
You'd to set up an appropriate pallette with the existing grays, plus
the colours you want to use for tinting/colourizing.
Like I said, it can be done but a full-featured paint package might do
it better. Good luck.
In addition to what Martin said, you've got to make sure that the Fit
button is off when you do those tinting operations.
