Yes!…………..Scala onCI$? This would be great! I am a proud registered owner of MM 210 and love it. We are currently working on the concept of Interactive Kiosks in the Branson MO area. We have had the concept for several years, Scala could make it a reality. Of course, with regards to a MM300 in the future, I would be happy to see update info posted here. Also, John, I have noticed a lot of activity over on the Multimedia Forum. Most suggestions for configuered interactive systems, do not include the Amiga (multitasking) platform. I think Scala would benefit immensely, with this new move to the forum. In regards to the comment on Alpha/Video. I have visited their facility in Minneapolis and am impressed with their organization. In case someone wants their address, here it is: Alpha Video 7836 Second Avenue South Bloomington, MN55420-1260 612-881-2055 612-881-4835 (fax) Contact: Robert J. Follstead

Glad to see someone happy that Scala is now present on a major service. Don't worry, you'll see us in force on some of the other services as well. Sorry about that CIS, but hey, at least you're the first! ;-} Indeed, I have made Scala's presence known in the Multimedia Forum. I have applied for a spot in the new Multimedia Vendors II area. I hope that CIS in its infinite wisdom (OK, yes I'm sucking up here…) will grant us our place soon. As a matter of fact, I have sent a message with the condensed version of our corporate profile. I've asked anyone who wants to know about us feel free to leave E-Mail, messages, comments, questions… and the occasional complaint to my attention. I guess its up to the Amiga community to inform people that there is another multimedia platform, a solution, available. Right guys? Guys? Where did everybody go? Just kidding! Warmest Regards, John Chang Technical/Sales Support Scala, Inc.

Are there any plans for a port of Infochannel to the Intel platform. Our Dealership "Loves IC and Scala". We have sold many copies of Scala and a couple of IC's but we have had such a nightmare with C= that we have become afraid to sell Amiga's. It's too bad that C= can't get there act together. For anyone out there who has not used Scala or Info Channel you have not seen a good Multimedia presentation package. I would love to see this package on the PC. Our past customers all love the product. A year or so ago It was really no problem selling them Amiga's. They like the Idea of Gold Service but C= has decided to no longer offer warranty service "They won't answer the phone". C= is directly responsible for other platform defectors. I used to hate the thought of Gold Disk and other Software Developers porting over but who can blame them. Thanks for continuing your support for the Amiga. I do hope C= will decide to support the Amiga in the US. Please consider a Slight defection to the 80×86 market. It would sure make a sales pitch much easier. Derrick Thomas

Hello Derrick! You should call me more often! There are plans for a PC product, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to come out in the next few weeks. Even with the problems at Commodore, there are some very reputable firms that could help you out. For example, Creative Equipment in Miami, FL always seems to have product from A1200s to A4000/040 and even the hard to find A4000/030 machines! As for warranty support, all related services are now headed up by SMG (Service Management Group). They are responsible for the Gold Service Warranty program in the past. They have even taken over Commodore parts distribution business. There is no doubt that Commodore is running into some difficult times, however, I feel confident that they will bounce back, albeit a bit more slowly than usual.

There is a Commodore warranty program. You need to contact SMG for details, or give me a call at (804) 436-9508. It is a fairly decent package. InfoChannel is an excellent Amiga product. -mark= Otto Pilot Engaged..

At least, Commodore offered something like Gold Service. Very few PC manufacturers offered similarly well endowed warranties (get a replacement PC clone via FedEX next-day air? I don't think so). Yes, C= is in the midst of a retrenchment (or, perhaps, revanchment) but the equivalent of Gold Service is still available, albeit from a third party (the outfit whose name I forget, and which has taken over all Amiga tech support, repairs and service). That said, I wish Commodore would have put up a message up on their service lines redirecting people. — Ron Legro from Milwaukee via AUTOPILOT

Ron, Actually…many clone makers were offering nnext day on site service which is better than a replacement unit…..especially if you don't have a recent backup. Don

I stand corrected. However, the operational word may be "were" offering next day on site. I suspect the whole industry is retrenching in this activity. [Heck, I just remembered that back in '83 when I bought an IBM PCjr, Sears Business Centers backed it up with on-site. I actually called them up once, and they dutifully came out to change the clock battery!] — Ron Legro from Milwaukee via AUTOPILOT (The only way to fly)

Yup…with the price wars in the PC arena….on-site service warranties are disappearing.

We are all here, reading the October issue of AVvideo. Interesting!….. What is this on page S-16? " Amiga 4000 with Scala's Infochannel beat out PC and Mac……….", and something about the Oceanic Naval Air Station?
#120634From: John ChangNov 3, 1993 9:08 PM
The article you are reading is about the Oceanic Naval Air Station and their use of InfoChannel to inform the squadrons of current weather conditions. All they had before simple CG displays. Not very sophisticated or interesting. We did have some problems during the installation. It seems that the Naval Air Station were using limited distance modems to send the information to the InfoChannel Player from the HQ. Everything is working fine now. They studied a wide number of systems with a specific criteria. InfoChannel won the contract because of the flexibility of InfoChannel and the multimedia capabilities of the Amiga computer. There were several other solutions available on the Mac and PC side. However, they were not able to meet some of the specifications, price, nor performance of our solution. Hope that answers your questions. Sincerely, John Chang Technical/Sales Support Scala, Inc.
