Absolutely. As your well being is on the line, MS (or any company's)
employees will do anything to keep the stock up. (If, as in MS, there's a
LOT to lose.)

There's only one part I disagree with. Yes, my well-being is on the line. No,
that doesn't mean that I'll do anything to preserve it. MS people (like any
employees at a good company), while motivated by money, are also extremely
employable by other companies. If MS asked me to do something against my
principles, I can always find another job.

I apologize for making it sound like you would do anything to keep MS
going! That was not my intent, as you have already proven to me that you
are an honest person.
Unfortunately, there are people that are less scrupulous than ourselves…

Well, I apologize for making it sound like I was taking it personally! 🙂 I
only meant to point out that while yes, some people are dishonest and
unethical, that happens at every company, at every level of revenue. While it
may seem ridiculous at first that a crime worth, say, 10,000 dollars is
universally more tempting to commit, it's appeal goes down the higher your
income. It's hard to tempt me to do something really unethical for, say, 5,000
bucks, if I make 60 grand a year, while it would be much more difficult to
resist if I only made 20.

Very true, though few can wield the power, over our favorite industry,
than MS.

For you and I, that may be true, but what about upper management? They
make ungodly sums of money, yet I think they are more apt to do things we
wouldn't even think of. After all, how did they get to be upper
management… While there probably are honest UM people, I have yet to
meet one.
