She thinks particle system is cool too! negative mass? ah ha! more later dav> But, all MPS owners need to recreate any animation is a 60-line file listing the parameters used. Sure, they still have to type them in, but, even the best programmer of all took seven days and seven nights to complete his first release, and look at all the fixes that were required later. Besides, you can get around that problem by sending the program itself (to any registered owner), ready to generate any animation (about 15K zipped), just like I did when I upgraded the holders of the Beta version to the first release. There is no real need to upload and download two meg files! That is, no need, other than the fact that the eight or nine incredible animations I uploaded over the last few days require the next release <g>. Out of those, the animation with the pool balls is one of the most interesting and the smallest (in more ways than one). But checkout the one I was going to declare the new holder of the "Mother of all Animations" title, but decided I was too shocked to make that decision. Shocked, first by finding out that the only thing I had to do to create a container that could hold water molecules was to use negative masses, a feature that required changes to four or five lines of code! And then, a few hours later I saw a few thousand molecules reproducing the behavior of water better than anything I could have ever designed on purpose. All that, the result of making a trivial change. Below is the description. After that is the description for the pool ball, which also could be done because of that small change to the code. Negative mass prevent models of pool balls from occupying the same space, just like the real thing. And, if you look carefully, you'll see conservation of momentum taking place. When one ball hits another one, it stops dead on its track and the other ball leaves at the same speed. All for free, I never programmed that! In the other animations there is wind, and smoke being blown away by wind. There are blades that cut smoothly and blades that create sawdust, and even one that makes splinters. There are masses that compress particles until, like an H-bomb, they explode as if fission had taken place. There is a worm squirming through a hole and losing its tail. Unfortunately I can't upload the many animations that exceed 10 meg and share the real good ones! "Gravity" was set to be inversely proportional to the 19th power of distance. The action had to be magnified 300,000 times. Molecules are tiny! You'd never suspect we've zoomed-in on a microscopic pool game. One played with balls having a 0.00035-pixel diameter and a mass of -10 to the -319th power!
