Hi, I spoke with the General Manager at Centaur Dev. today. They are overwhelmed at the response they have recieved to the Video Processor and that's one of the reasons its been hard to get a hold of them. They suggest that you call their BBS 310.787.4540 or Fax them at 310.222.5882. They are now planning a mid. Nov. or so ship date either way a must before Xmas.

Well, I was playing with the VP card today (at MicroWorks, Buffalo), it is a beta board and had some bugs still. The layout is simular to the Toaster, so the learning curve is low. Some of the keyboard short-cuts are the same. Some of the effects looked great, while others were a bit faint. But you have lots of variety, wipes, dves, alphas. VP paints with Opal paint, and the CG is Montage24. There is a DVE editor which was simular to other broadcast DVE editors. DVE's compressed at 1×2 on MicroWorks 3000, they say that it will compress 1×1 pixels on a A4000. I only had ten minutes on it before the next guy. BTW the software came on CD-Rom. Thanks for the info. I have to get to NYC to see the VP at Tri-State. I heard that the software could be had on either a CD or disks. Since I don't have a CD drive (only a CD32) I hope it comes on disks also. When the VP compressed images on the Z axis did the image get pixilized like on the Toaster? Jim R. Joe, For those of us who aren't that technically sophisticated, it would be great if you could translate your information on compression ratios into a statement as to whetehr or not the OPAL card will pixellize as much as the toaster on certain scaled special effects. Thanks in advance. Michael
