#ik and b-spline in r4

Guys, question — Can you use ik to deform and control a b-spline patch obj? for example, let's say I build a face with b-spline patches, can I control portions of that face (lips, eyebrows, etc.) with ik bones? or does ik only aid you in moving objects? another question — it's my understanding that you can build a b-spline obj and convert it to polygons, but can you go from polys to b-spline? – and if you can, to what extent (mesh detail, etc.)? one more — I know that there is an .axp used with b-spline obj ( that deals with the amount of detail rendered) — thus depleting your ability to use any other .axp (vapor or flame) — any chance we'll be able to use multiple .*xp's in the future? thanks, -kyle

Kyle, we didn't have anything to do with the creation of the patch modeler, and since we've been working on next-generation development for the past while, I don't have much experience with it. You'd best ask Jonas or Brian questions like these. – G

Gary, I was at a Adesk show in Miami the other day and they said that the B-Spline modeler has been dropped on R4. Is this true???!!! I saw a beta copy of R4 and got a chance to play with the Spline modeler and it was terrific. I hope this isn't true. Andrew Graphic Alchemy Productions, Inc.

Ask one of the Autodesk guys. My group had nothing to do with the spline modeler, but I support Autodesk's decision to do what they did. It was a step backwards… a direction we're not known for moving in. – G

Hi Andrew, << they said that the B-Spline modeler has been dropped on R4. Is this true???!!! >> I hope to post something here in the morning… jonas[adesk]

Jonas, As modeling goes the spline modeler would have been a very welcome feature. I hope to see a positive response here tomorrow too!! I've been sampling some other programs w/ it and can only hope to use it w/ my r4!
